  5. Good morning! This is something I’ve given a lot of thought about and have worked in a field as a social worker for 17 years so I’ve had a lot of experience with it. I also have a PhD in public health promotion and education so that has also given me some experience. I am or this website is still under construction but I will take your advice and add some more pictures.   6. One thing that I have found is that individuals who are overweight, often hear about their weight every time they go to the doctor. Doctors know that weight can cause significant health problems, however studies have found that those that who are overweight but who exercise have better health outcomes then those who are within a good weight and don’t exercise. Sometimes the body just doesn’t want to give up the excess weight no matter how hard some individuals try. So I think the main thing to consider is the exercise and eating healthy portion of it. I think it’s more important to exercise and eat healty then to try to be within a certain weight or BMI. One thing though, this is a pretty complicated topic because there are benefits of both. I did a dissertation on a weight study with children who had kidney disease. It was clear that children who were overweight had poor health outcomes. But children can lose weight a lot easier than adults who have had the weight on for a while. Once we gain weight, the body remembers those fat cells and wants to replenish them when they are lost. So I think that the main thing to focus on would be to see it as a new lifestyle change of regular exercise and a healthy diet with some occasional splurges. Instead of thinking of it as a short-term diet, they should see it as a lifestyle change. I am speaking in terms of personal and professional experience within this field if you are wondering. I am finding too that although weight loss is thought to help with a sense of self-worth, it doesn’t help much. An individual who tries to lose weight so that they can feel better about themselves, typically finds that they may feel slightly better but usually they will never be able to lose enough weight to love themselves if they are thinking in terms of perfectionism. By being a perfectionist and wanting to look a certain way or to look slim, weight loss isn’t going to do the tric because there is no such thing as perfect. He or she can always get to a better way or can get more muscle, or more abs etc. There’s always more. But if an individual can love him or herself without worrying about what weight they need to be, then that’s usually when they will treat their bodies in a way that helps their body to be the best that it can be no matter what weight that might be. These are just a few of my thoughts. As you can tell, this is a topic that is within my mind quite a bit. Oh yeah, if you want to check out a great book on self-love, check out the book self-love workbook for women by Megan Logan. It is an awesome spiral bound workbook with color pages and very creative. You can purchase it on Amazon. By the way, I don’t get any profit from recommending this book. I just thought I would share.
